The business impressed the judges with its extensive sustainability agenda and commitment to making a positive environmental impact.

Aston Manor’s head of compliance and sustainability, Jamie Weall, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised twice at these awards for our programme of sustainability initiatives.

As part of Aston Manor’s sustainability programme, the cidermaker has substantially reduced its use of raw materials and consumption of fresh water. By investing significantly across the production facilities in Birmingham, the Midlands and Devon, the business has significantly reduced its CO2 consumption.

Aston Manor has pledged to send no waste in landfill sites by 2020. This is being achieved by sending its apple pomace, the remains of the apple after its pressed, to an anaerobic digestion facility, where it’s broken down and used as biofertilisers or to generate gas for energy.

Aston Manor has been making cider in the Midlands for over 35 years. The company has its headquarters and production site in Birmingham, its state-of-the-art pressing facility in Stourport-on-Severn and orchards across Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

The two accolades at the Birmingham Post Business Awards is the latest highlight for Aston Manor in an award-winning 2019. Earlier this year, the business won the Large Business of the Year accolade at the West Midlands Business Masters and collected seven medals at the International Cider Challenge.
