We are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join our Health & Safety Team.

This position is a key member supporting the Site Management Team based at the Aston and Stourport sites. You will ensure all aspects of Health & Safety on our sites are adhered to with support from the Health & Safety Controller.

The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with all departments within the business. This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to the Health & Safety Controller based at the Witton site.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities of this positions are:

  • Investigate wherever there is a serious risk of an accident or incident occurring and ensure the Health & Safety Controller is made aware of the issue.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Maintain statistics regarding accidents, incidents and near misses to recognise any trends.
  • Complete all report paperwork and ensure reports are reviewed by appropriate department heads before filing. 
  • Conduct inspections including Fire Extinguisher checks, Fire Door Surveys, PPE reviews, Fire Alarm tests, Fire drills, surveys, safety tours or audits as agreed with the Health & Safety Controller.
  • Ensure all areas and departments are inspected and cross inspected by respective Safety Representatives.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Management and Health & Safety Committee meetings are held.
  • Manage all aspects of group COSHH requirements from register(s) to data sheets and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety training plan is up to date, and existing employees are appropriately trained as per the training matrix.
  • Ensure new employees receive the appropriate Health & Safety Induction.

The successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise and organise an often varying and changing workload with differing levels of pressure whilst always maintaining a positive can-do attitude. They will also have had experience of working within manufacturing health & safety team.

Candidates should be educated to at least A-level (or relevant equivalent), with degree education being preferable. They should also hold their IOSH Managing Safely and ideally be NEBOSH qualified

This role does include occasional travel to all sites with overnight stays where appropriate, therefore candidates should hold a full UK driving license, and their own vehicle.
